The only thing we have to fear is fear itself - Franklin Delano Roosevelt

I am working with Jack Stonecipher on a very popular question; what is fear? I got this question from a Vsauce video; Why Are Things Creepy? We thought that we were the only ones doing this question but then when Taite sent out a survey titled “What is Fear?” , and Maddie sent out an email asking if anyone did a project on “the mental and psychological effects of horror games on their players.” As you could tell, I got a little bit frustrated with this plagiarism. So far we have had ideas to turn this idea into a Michael Moore documentary or a Vsauce kind of video. We have interviewed Dr. Pamela North and are planning to interview Dr. Darrell Shaffer. We have possibly other people lined up like a makeup artist for the Walking Dead,  Travis Maruska, who is a film professor and Dr. William Tregaskis. I like this topic because there is so many ways that we could look at such a broad topic. Jack wants to at the horror in video games and movies and why we want to get scared. I am more interested on what causes fear, as well as the mental and physical effects of being scared has on your body. I had a great interview with Dr. Pamela North and she gave me some great insight on her patients and their fears. One of her patients had an irrational fear of sand and she was getting married on a beach the next week. She also helped us with the different ways that you can get rid of fear such as pills and therapy. The pill is a short term answer but doesn’t cure your fear. She told me that the only way to really cure fears is to face it with help. So far, our project is turning out really well. Our next challenge for this project is trying to make it into a documentary.

  1. I think you have a wonderful start. Don't worry about other people doing things that relate to your topic. Everything is connected if you think about it long enough. :)

You have a great start with psychologists and first-hand research. Keep going with it. Plus, your format for presenting will be great, too.
